Well, if you can turn on the radio or TV or load up your favorite websites without being reminded incessantly  how grim the economy is then you are doing better than I am. To take my mind off all that, I’ve been having lots of fun in the studio as I begin to evolve a line of light-hearted and sometimes even self-referential magnets. 

All comments about “magnetic personalities” and such aside some are a bit high/low brow, others downright New Orleans-themed:

Introducing: a Creamy Satin Matte Glaze…

Yes, finally, a New Glaze !

This one is a transparent satin matte which fires to a lovely warm, creamy color on my white stoneware claybody. It plays well with other glazes, too, as in these examples of brushwork (Dragon Green) over the transparent satin matte, rendering an effect reminiscent of a celadon glaze….

It looks nice on tumblers, too…
